Though
the White Mill Hotel is no longer in business (2001), it still stands
in good repair over a century after famous son Malcolm Cowley was born
and his family made their summer residence here. The Victorian two-story
porch has apparently been enclosed to enlarge what was later the bar
area of the hotel; the right-side chimney has been moved to the outside
of the building, and a winter-weather enclosure has been added to what
is now the front door. The state historical marker about Malcolm Cowley
can be seen in the left, next to the utility pole. (This photo has been
edited slightly to "clear" traffic; no alterations were made
to the appearance of the building itself.)
