Though the White Mill Hotel is no longer in business (2001), it still stands in good repair over a century after famous son Malcolm Cowley was born and his family made their summer residence here. The Victorian two-story porch has apparently been enclosed to enlarge what was later the bar area of the hotel; the right-side chimney has been moved to the outside of the building, and a winter-weather enclosure has been added to what is now the front door. The state historical marker about Malcolm Cowley can be seen in the left, next to the utility pole.
