Waneva McDermott Kupchella

Waneva Theresa McDermott Kupchella, 59, died December 24 at her home in Ebensburg. A friend of the family told the Home Page that cause of death was an unexpected heart attack.
Born in Johnstown on October 8, 1942, Ms Kupchella grew up in Mundys Corner and was a graduate of Mount Aloysius College, Cresson. She also was a graduate of the Cleveland Clinic School of Radiology and at time of death was employed by the Cambria County Detention Center, Ebensburg, and the Federal Correctional Institution in Loretto, and had been previously employed as an X-ray technician at Windber Hospital.
She was the daughter of Angela (Ruckbeiry) and the late Morgan McDermott, and is survived by her mother, two sons, and five grandchildren. She had been a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Mundys Corner, where Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, December 28, by the Rev. Paul Robine; interment at Mount Aloysius Cemetery.
Surviving family members include her son Greg, husband of Kathy, of Mundys Corner, and Brian, husband of Pam, of Warren. Grandchildren are Brandon, Cody, Nathen, Morgan, and Jacob.
