1938 Cambria County & Vicinity Firemen's Convention

This video is the third taken from films made on behalf of the Vintondale Fire Company in 1938 and sent to us as part of a DVD collection of film/video clips to my brother, Robert Kennedy, by Mary Rubis's daughter, Kathy, and Bob copied and sent to us. This third part, showing mostly the parade of the Firemen's Convention of 1938, has been held to lead up to the Annual Cambria County & Vicinity Firemen's Convention, which opens next Saturday (July 26, 2008) in Clymer.

The Fire Company clips have a narration, added about 60 years later by Julius Morey, who was president of the Fire Company when the film was made. Mr. Morey gave the Fire Company film to Jane Donaldson Marines and her husband, EJ, who had it turned into a videotape by WJAC-TV. Mrs. Marines made copies of the videotape to pass on to friends and one of those, Kathy, turned it into a DVD. I next turned a copy of that DVD from normal DVD format to an Internet-compatible format (Windows Media Video with ActiveX) for this page.

This eight-minute-35-second clip features marching bands, fire fighting units, and equipment, taken at the Convention, the location of which Mr. Morey was not sure of in his narration. (Lilly or Cassandra, possibly— if anyone watching recognizes the location, please let us know.)
