Auction fundraiser a success
The Blacklick Valley High School Honors Math Class writes:
"The March 22 event was a success. The playground project netted well over $2500. We will keep you posted concerning our other projects."
The group started raising funds for a children's playground last year and had accumulated about $5000 prior to the auction, held yesterday at the BVHS auditorium. Members of the community donated antiques, collectibles, and useful items to the cause.
New soda shop set to open today?
A home page reader writes:
Was driving through Nanty Glo today (Saturday) and noticed that the former Dolly's Restaurant which closed around this past Christmas (located across from Nanty Glo firehall) has a sign on it, Hagen's Soda Shop.
The sign on the door says it's going to open on Monday. The sign carries a picture of Betty Boop on it. Not sure who owns it, but it's nice to know that with the loss of Dolly's, a new business is here. Glad to see "Soda Shop" and hope it does well.
