from Reunion Record Hop 2002 The
third annual Nanty Glo Reunion Record Hop was held from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday,
August 3, in the Nanty Glo Firehall, a hot and humid evening. Organizers reported
that 108 tickets were sold, a smaller crowd than the previous year. Organizers
are contemplating having next year's hop in September or October because the weather
will be cooler and it won't have to compete with other summer activities happening
around the area. Disc Jockey Smokey Joe Columbus played music from the 1950's-'90's...from
Buddy Holly and the Everly Brothers to the Beatles. A few of those in attendance
were still limber enough to do the Limbo and Twist along with Chubby Checker!....Oh!
our aching backs! The stroll and lots of cha-cha's were done by those who could
still remember how! The $10 per-person admission bought those in attendance all
the dancing they could handle, pizza, munchie snacks, and drinks and lots of donated
prizes were given away. Best of all, it was a great trip down memory lane. | |
