Last
weekend, Jackson Township held their fifth annual Heritage Festival. While doing
my shutterugging rounds to get photos for a video, I came across Betty the four-month-old
Brown Swiss calf. Betty is the 4-H project of Micah Primmel, with Betty below.
Betty was one of the many interesting attractions at this year's festival. Much
to my disappointment, I wasn't able to make Friday night's vintage car show and
Sunday's festivities were shortened by a sudden downpour which had vendors and
patrons alike running for cover. But rain showers not withstanding...those folks
in Jackson Township threw quite a party. Kudos to everyone involved.
Speaking
of vintage cars, I recently spotted the classy chassis below parked outside Nanty
Glo's Niner Diner. Remember when we not only drove such gas guzzlers but were
proud to do so? Of course, the price of gas when this blue behemoth and others
like it were seen cruisin' down the highway was probably less than $1.00/gallon....maybe?
But that was then....
This
is now... Parked on the other corner was this Harley-Davison wannabe. (I'd insert
a big LOL here but who's laughing over or at such things these days?) This little
jobber (and I do mean little) is indeed a true-blue motorcycle as it had a motorcycle
license plate to prove it, and others like it are becoming more and more visible
in Home Page Country as the price of gas continues to hover around the $4.00/gallon
mark. Hmmm...I wonder how many miles to the gallon this adult tricycle gets?!
Funny
bones A Sunday -School Teacher was discussing
the Ten Commandments with her class of 5-and 6-year-olds. After explaining the
commandment to "honor thy father and thy mother," she asked, "Is there a commandment
that teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters?"Without missing a beat,
one little boy answered, "Thou shall not kill." On this day
in history Birthday of writer Pearl
Buck (1892) and rock musician Mick Jagger (1943). 1863:
Three-month quota for Cambria County Civil War soldiers set at 588. 1949:
Home Page Country: Wolf Furniture Company was offering a seven-piece living room
ensemble for $99.50.
