Flag Presented...U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Michael Brosch, right, presents a U.S.
Flag that flew over a U.S. installation in Iraq to Nanty Glo Mayor Thomas Cunningham.
Brosch, a Nanty Glo native and son of Michael Brosch of Carrolltown and Sharon
Alexander of Nanty Glo is a 14-year veteran of the army, and recently returned
from a one-year deployment in Iraq. Cunningham said that he plans to have the
flag placed in a wooden and glass case, and then rotate it through the school
systems, various civil, fraternal and military clubs, and any business that would
like to display it. Eventually, the mayor said, 'The flag will end up on permanent
display in the Nanty Glo Public Library.'

| Helping
Katrina victims...Using a little play on words, 'Change Someone's Life,' the
students at St. Mary's Parochial School, Nanty Glo, collected almost $1,800 in
change for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Members of the eighth-grade and second-grade
classes were the top collectors and are shown with the chanbe. School Principal
Rosemary Conzo is shown in the center of the back row. The money collected will
be given to Catholic Charities for distribution where needed. Because students
did so well in this worthwhile project, the student body was granted a Dress Down
Day on Sept.23. Photo by William L. Martin. |

an apartment to this old codger. After praising its numerous attractions, he ended
his hard-sell with, "Remember, Mr. Brown, this is an investment for the future."

buy green bananas." " Bible
