SeldersvilleIn a deed recorded at the Cambria County Court House on July 5, 1893, F.W. Selders bought five acres of land in Twin Rocks from John I. Wagner for $140.20. The coal rights were subject to the Article of Agreement with Thomas Griffith. The land was part of a larger piece of land John W. Wagner had obtained from Henry E. Wagner. Mr. Selders then built this store, which included the family dwelling and several out buildings. The year of this photo and the identity of the people in it are not known. The Cambria County tax records of 1918 show the Selders property aggregate value to be $2400, with a tax of $8.40. He died in 1926 leaving the property to Sarepta Selders, his wife. Years later, another deed, recorded May 17, 1937, shows Mildred, his daughter, selling one acre of the land and two other out buildings to Merl and Euphamie Miller. The store then became a private dwelling. The house is still a private dwelling today and is located on Rt. 271 near the intersection with Expedite Road.Now...
Although I'm not sure this is the old Selders Store building, it is the only building in the general area that even remotely resembles the structure in the photo above. Like many of the old houses in Twin Rocks, this vintage dwelling is undergoing some renovation.

From Nanty Glo...Lori and Tom Kolar send dual greetings to their
friends and family in Home Page Country. Hi Everybody!
An antelope and a lion entered a diner and took a booth near the window. When the waiter approached, the antelope said,"I'll have a bowl of hay and a side order of radishes."
"And what will your friend have?"
"Nothing," replied the antelope.
The waiter persisted. "Isn't he hungry?"
"Hey, if he were hungry," said the antelope, "would I be sitting here?"
