The following is an attempt to list, compare, and contrast basic characteristics of the liberal and conservative frames of reference. This is, of course, based on my personal understanding of the two sides; your mileage may vary. This is also offered as an explanation of why liberalism as presented here and as it presents itself as the "opposition party" in the present national debate is not an option I could consider following.

There have been times in my adult life when I've thought the differences between the liberals and conservatives were hardly worth noting, they seemed so close, or that at best the main difference between them is that conservatives move toward the future more slowly. But the directions seem to be veering in distinctly different directions now. The current issue of Time Magazine (which I have scanned but not read at this writing) seems to be delving this change of the rules of engagement (for lack of a better way to describe this phenomenon).

I'll try to "unpack" some of these comparisons/contrasts before we turn to the Christmas focus of these postcards. As always, input from all is welcome, either directly to the email list or to me for consideration in the permanent Home Page record.
