| Two 'new' old photos from Blacklick Valley's history
At Vintondale's historic Eliza Furnace, sent by Jay Antol, who writes: This was taken around the mid-fifties at Eliza Furnace in Vintondale. The kids are: Deb Antol, Pam DeBona, Cindy Zajac, Jay Antol, Sam Bananto, Karen DeBon.
Grade school students, sent by Jon Jurban, who writes: This is a picture taken from the Nanty Glo Elementary School 9/13/53. My brother Michael Jurban is in the second row, second student from left. Update: I attended first and second grades in the wooden building next to the High School on Chestnut Street in 1922 and 1923. My first grade teacher was Maude Parks and she is the teacher in the picture. The picture is taken on the steps to the entrance of the old high school. The iron pipes in the background were on a high wall and protected the children going around that way to the entrance of the wooden building that faced the alley that ran parallel with Second Street. You know when people see a cat's litter box, they always say, "Oh, have you got a cat?" Just once I want to say, "No, it's for company!" Employment application blanks always ask who is to be notified in case of an emergency. I think you should write, "Well, A Good Doctor would be nice!" Sent by Mary Ann Losiewcz | |||||||||||||
