Good Morning Nanty Glo!
                 Wednesday, July 11 2003

Jon Kennedy, webmasterThe Long, Hot Summer...45 years later

Today's entry is excerpts from one of your webmeister's Teen Events columns from the Nanty Glo Journal and other Sedloff Newspaperss from 45 years ago, late spring or summer of 1958. Sad to say (if you think this is bad) the real cornpone has been left on the cutting room floor.

The Long, Hot SummerAs of now, we have yet to see a hot day, but maybe hoping about it will help make it that way. The song of the same name, the movie, are both doing well, maybe as a result of the old, cold spring. Joanne Woodward brings warmth to any movie and Jimmie Rodgers makes most any platter burn!

Reflections — Larry Ford makes Nanty Glo ring with the latest hits by the way of his weekly record hops every Saturday. Music fans can tune in all over town by opening their back doors.

At this time last year "Old Cape Cod" was becoming the hottest platter, hitting the parade wide open. At this time next year, sideburns will probably be the corniest remnants of the Presley era. They're becoming rare already!

By the way, we'd like to know what all you reader think can be done to improve the teen driving statistics. We want your opinions on how the accident ratings can be lowered, why there are so many accidents, and what can make teenagers better drivers. So, if I don't poll you directly, drop us a line.

You learn something every day—Did you know that Altoona TV WFBG, is owned by the publishers of TV Guide, Triangle Publications? Well...you do now.

Radio Pittsburgh, WEEP, is catching on fast. Between Weep and Kaydee, contest fans have trouble switiching the dial fast enough.

We'll see you next week!

Webmaster Jon Kennedy

Words to grow on

I was whipped so often as a kid, that by the time I was 11 years old I thought I was a dog team.

Thought for today

We have no need to despond, for Christ has vanquished everything raised Adam, released Eve, and slain death!
