CHARTER
MEMBERS OF MOOSE
Spring 1910

Nanty Glo LOOM formed in 1910Nanty Glo Lodge 207, Loyal Order of the Moose,
was instituted on April 14, 1910, with 51 charter members. First Moose quarters
were on the second floor of the building now occupied by the Journal News bureau.
They moved to their Lloyd Street quarters in 1912. A rebuilding program was started
in September 1948, and the Lodge held a formal grand opening on May 27, 1949,
to mark completion of the work which included the enlargement of the building
and the addition of a new social room and dance floor.

MEMBERSHIP IN MOOSE FEATURES MANY BENEFITS...
The
Loyal Order of Moose is a fraternal and benevolent nation-wide organization of
which the local lodge is a member. The Order is nationally famous for its origination
and support of "Mooseheart," a home for children of deceased members, maintained
at Mooseheart, Illinois. "Mooseheart" is a tremendous project which cares for
and educates children of all ages. Schools from kindergartens to high schools
are maintained by the institution. "Moosehaven," a home for aged members of the
Moose and their wives, is also maintained by the order in Jacksonville, Florida.
Other benefits featured by the organization are sick and death benefits. The death
benefit pays $100 to the nearest survivor of a deceased member. The sick benefits
pay up to $91, spread over a period of 13 weeks to members who are unable to work
through illness or accident. Another advantage of membership in the Order is the
social activities program of each lodge.
