More light on Grand/Liberty Theater
Letter No. 87 | March 12, 1999
My Dad helped build the Grand and took me there on Saturday afternoons to see the serialsThe Lone Ranger, Zorro and many others. It was also the place to go for westerns. Although its name was the Grand, it was often referred to as the "Ranch" because it's where the westerns were playing. I think that it was after WWII that it became the Liberty. I have many fond memories of the Grand/Ranch/Liberty. It had certain smells that were unique.
Those of us who went to the old Nanty Glo High School also held our high school band concerts, minstrel shows and occasional plays there as well.
