A veterans' tribute for Memorial Day

Letter No. 346 | May 29, 2010

If possible, this would be a wonderful addition to the NG site for Memorial Day. I can remember VJ day (or was it VE day) very distinctly. Don't know what technical aspects or copyright laws would be involved.

We have all seen the Sailor kiss on Broadway in New York, but how many have seen this?

COMMENT: That was awesome! My oldest brother was in the Navy and when I saw this he came to mind. He loved to celebrate, he was only seventeen when he entered the service, He passed away last year and I really miss him.

By the way, that "Sailor kissing a young girl" is depicted in a statue in Sarasota about twenty minutes from us. We went up last year to visit a cousin and she took us to see it. It is a very large Statue and it's in color, really something to see. Darla Paul
