Writer's father managed Nettleton Mine
Letter No. 319 | February 19, 2005My father was the manager of the Imperial Coal mine at Nettleton from about 1930 through his retirement in May 1951. His name was John M. Coleman. I remember the Company store pictured in your reference pages.
The summer of 1949 I was employed as part of the construction crew which built the new tipple. The Contractor who employed me was L. Sargent. It might be of interest that my father is featured in the Johnstown History Museum. The picture shows him with a large group of his men just outside of the mine opening shaft into the hillside.
John M. Coleman passed away one month after his retirement June 17th 1951.
Best Regards,
John H. Coleman
