Remembers Civil War-era cemetery Letter No. 253 | June 3, 2001
Hi Jon and Frank.
I do remember the old cemetery that Frank mentions. I attended Jack Rager School for third, fourth and fifth grades. During lunch and at recess, we would play in the woods behind the school. When we told adults about the old tombstones, no one was interested. Eight or nine years ago, I went for a walk back there with several of my foster children. We looked everwhere I could remember but had no luck finding the tombstones. The Jackson Township Water Authority has an underground water storage tank in the area. Perhaps the graves were moved during construction.
