Next reunion record hop planned; special note to NGVHS class of '66

Letter No. 225 | January 30, 2001

I would like to ask for your help again this year in putting the news of the Record hop on the net. The date this year is going to be August 4, at the Firehall again. We haven't set the times yetl

We have some new ideas for this year and want to make this even bigger and better than last year. Since last year was such a success, we will definitely have to limit the ticket sales to 300. We had such a good time last year; it was so nice seeing everyone excited about seeing and talking to people they haven't seen in a long time. That's what it was meant to do. Class reunions are great, but I have always said you were friends with more people than just your classmates. You had your football teams, cheering squads, band, school clubs, your church friends, upper-classmen and lower-classmen, etc.

That's why the record hop reunion came up; almost everyone at some time during their high school years went to the record hop. At the record hop last year, everyone just fell into the astmoshere of the past and danced and laughed and ate pizza, just like we did then. It was great.

As I get more information on the dance, I'll get back to you about times and ticket price. I've already heard from old record hop goers from all over to see when the dance will be this year. Last year, we gave away some great gifts, had some happy winners in the dance contest, and some people even dressed [in the look of] the era. No one went home unhappy.

If anyone has pictures or videos from last year, I would like to have copies for this year's dance, if possible. I will pay for the copies myself. Also, if anyone has any suggestions to add to the event, let me know.

A little note to the class of 66: this year will be our 35th class reunion. Instead of having the usual formal class dinner/dance, we decided to tell all classmates to get tickets to the record hop and we'll meet there for a good time. Also, that Friday night classmates are going to gather at the Cottage restraunt for a llittle gab session. It will be pay as you go, so you can have what you want. Informal dress; just a get-together to catch up on everyone's lives, then on Saturday it's off to the record hop. Okay class of '66, let's make plans for August 3 & 4.
