Nanty Glo Historical Society inaugural meeting set; news
on Fed Flood program

Letter No. 173 | April 23, 2000

Wanted to let you know that a Historical Society is in the making. We are going to have our first informal and informational meeting on Thursday, April 27, at 7 p.m. at the Nanty Glo Library. Donna Davis and I have been planning and writing a Mission Statement and discussing all the good things to come.

We are planning to stay under the umbrella of the Nanty Glo Library as they are already established and we don't have enough people to staff a new location (even if we could afford one). People are the important item right now. The Library Board is being helpful.

Also: [A report on] the action on the Federal Flood Project. I really didn't think I would live long enough to see it. Lots of mud in Nanty Glo streets lately, but much progress being made. Trees are all down and banking and rock laid down. Such a different look to down-town. Open and clean...(even with all the mud).
