Likes views of the Pennsylvania Nanty Glo
Letter No. 167 | March 14 2000
Webmaster's note: Mrs. O'Neil, who grew up in Nantyglo and Blaina, Wales, now lives in "the Sunshine Coast of Australia."
I really enjoyed seeing your Nanty Glo town pictures; they are so different to our Nantyglo. The tree-lined sidewalks, the beautiful church, and the backround of the hills behind. I believe every home town has its own beauty, especially very poignant when living in another country and far from home.
I am eagerly awaiting our daughter and grandaughters return home from their trip to the continent and especially Nantyglo and Blaina. My grandaughter, who was born in Sydney, is making the first trip oversesas; she is fifteen. What will she think of the town where my husband and I and her mother lived until 40 years ago? It will be certainly different to where we live now on the Sunshine Coast of Australia.
My memories of my home town are very real to me, especially the hardships we suffered during the depression. Do you need any information in regards to that time, during the depression, or is it old hat now? Ask any questions and I will answer them for you.
