Cardiff 1940
Mystery
solved! See story here!
The Library of Congress
archive describes this as "The village of Cardiff, Pennsylvania. In the foreground
are the remains of an abandoned mine workings, dead for 10 years. Near Force,
Pennsylvania." Jack Delano, photographer. Created/published September 1940.
Though "Force" is identified as a Pennsylvania place (zip code 15841,
between State College and Oil City near I-80), the Library also describes Cardiff
as a Cambria County village. This photo was found in the archive by the webmaster
by entering all other Blacklick Valley towns in the Library's search engine. See
update linked above. |
