Where are they now?
Pauline Frederick

Pauline Frederick in 1981 High School photo.

Born September 22, 1963, this Blacklick Township native is a 1981 graduate of Blacklick Valley High School and a 1994 graduate of Mount Aloysius College with an Associate's in nursing. Pauline is currently employed by Conemaugh Home Health and Somerset Hospital. In her "spare time," Pauline attends classes at Mount Aloysius College, hoping to graduate in 2003 with a B.S. in nursing.

Married to Jim Williams since 1999, Pauline("Polly") and Jim share a blended family of six children and one grandchild and currently live in Jennerstown, which enables Pauline to 'get home' to the Valley often to visit family, old friends, and maintain her membership in the United Methodist Church in Twin Rocks.

"Good times with friends" tops her list of memories of growing up in Blacklick Valley..."You knew people and they knew you, I miss that kind of social life...swimming at White Mill and BAB (clothed, of course!)...and the record hops at St. Nicholas Church on Second Street."

Send greetings to Jamesawilliams1@CS.com.

In-flight funnies (last in series)

In light of all the recent air security that's been put in place, crew members try to lighten the mood. Here are (allegedly) real examples of how they make the in-flight "safety lecture" and their other announcements a bit more entertaining.

Part of a flight attendant's arrival announcement: "We'd like to thank you folks for flying with us today. And, the next time you get the insane urge to go blasting through the skies in a pressurized metal tube, we hope you'll think of US Airways."

Thought for today

How easily we can be misled if we do not pause to define some of the words we use—words that can so easily lose their true meanings in today's world. For the devil delights in distorting words. He never calls a thing by its right name but by something that sounds innocent in order to deceive us.
