Late news from the Valley - 2 The search for Joseph Pisarcik (and my apology for the misspelling yesterday) was reported tonight as ended with no finding, after the search teams felt they had tried everything they could to locate the missing man. They're asking for anyone with any leads about his possible whereabouts to call the Cambria County 911 nonemergency 800 number. More details will probably be given on the Tribune Democrat's page today. I got to enjoy a jump on Independence Day celebrating, along with thousands of others in the area, by going to witness the fireworks at the Johnstown Galleria Tuesday evening. My hosts were the Hakanens, Rich and Barb, and their grandchildren Dusty and Lindsay. Thanks for Judy Rose for reporting that "Nanty Glo's" Freedom Ford had relocated on Route 22, near the Ebensburg airport, as of last January, and I coincidentally saw the new facility while driving up that way Tuesday evening. The move leaves Nanty Glo with only one car dealership in town, LaMantia Dodge. Those of us who seem stuck in the past can now ennumerate the other past ones: Costlow Chevrolet/Olds, Boback Pontiac, and Sparky Millward's Nanty Glo Motors Kaiser-Frazer. There were probably others over the years, though those are all that come to my muddled mind. Besides the Ghost Town Trail being detoured from the Vintondale rock dump to the bridge, the Johnstown Inclined Plane is also undergoing more structural improvements. Pedestrian use of the area's main tourist attraction (in my opinion, our answer to France's Eiffel Tower and Hollywood's famous sign), is maintained, but vehicular use is discontinued while reconstruction of the bed of the bridge over Stoneycreek is underway. Also disappointing: the access to the sculpture trail from the lower Inclined Plane entrance has been discontinued. It had been my second favorite local hike afterthe Ghost Town Trail. Speaking of that: Trudy Myers reported that everyone has been talking about a new book of ghost stories relating to the Ghost Town Trail. I wanted to buy one, but the only known source, Nanty Glo Gold Crown Foodland store, had sold out its most recent shipment. More are on order, but probably not in time for me to get one on this visit. One tale in synopsis: a midnight ghost train has been reported heard but not seen in the Bracken area (between Twin Rocks and Vintondale). More tomorrow, Lord willing.. |

Funny or true or not,
who knows? But interesting First novel ever written

The cruise liner, Queen Elizabeth

On criticism
Slander is
a great evil. Just exactly as the little rudder of a ship guides the
ship where it wants, so the tongue guides a person either to good
or to evil.... When we judge our brother, we censure ourselves in
a great sin. When, therefore, we shield our brother, God will also
shield us from great sins. Father
