Letter 16 | January 15 2002

Hello,

I would be very grateful for any information regarding the 'roundhouses' of Nantyglo. Apparently, my great-grandfather lived in one in the 1880's. I think his name was Thomas Lewis(?). If anyone knows any information at all about this, please let me know. It says on his marriage certificate that he was an iron baller, and I asssume he worked in the ironworks, but don't really have an idea of what an iron baller is.

I am very new to geneology, and my great aunt told me of her grandfather who lived in one of these houses, and described it in great detail to me. I was absoloutley thrilled to be able to get photographs and information about them on this site.
