A kindergarten teacher gave her class a "show and tell" assignment. Each student was instructed to bring in an object that represented their religion to share with the class.

The first student got up in front of the class and said, "My name is Benjamin and I am Jewish and this is a Star of David."

The second student got up in front of the class and said, "My name is Mary. I'm a Catholic and this is a Rosary."

The third student got in up front of the class and said, "My name is Tommy. I am Methodist, and this is a casserole."

Thought for today

Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.

The last of the baby birds to appear in my family nest (over 35 years ago), my son the now Google engineer Kevin, was married to his fiancee of two years, Bernadette Perry, on August 27. The 15-minute video below catches highlights of the ceremony at a breath-takingly beautiful location above the Pacific Ocean 20-odd miles south of San Francisco and 35 miles or so from our home city of San Jose.

Click the play button above for the Windows Media version, or if you are on a platform that is not Windows-compatible, click here to watch the video on YouTube. Double-click to make the video above full-screen.

The property, a private home owned by an architect-artist who lives in the City and whose work was all around, is rented out for such occasions.

Though the August weather inland was bright sunshine and hot, the coast was seasonally cooler, which was just right for those wearing suits and ties. Even when light fog rolled in at night, it was not too cool for dancing on the small dance floor next to the house, which was filled until the band announced the last dance.

I hadn't intended to take pictures at the wedding, but when I saw no one else taking video, I couldn't resist and was glad I answered the call. The still above of me with Kevin is taken from my grand-daughter Brandi's Facebook page, because someone mentioned I was nowhere to be seen in the video (of course).
