Search for Southeast Passage ends
Jonal entry 1179 | May 5 2011
A
week ago I returned to the Shoreline area of Mountain View for my
third nature walk beginning from that point, the point being a campus
of Google buildings which I had not identified as such in the earlier
walks (the only Google sign being on the front when I had previously
approached from the back of the campus). I was searching for a "southeast
passage" by way of the San Francisco Bay Trail from that point
to Alviso, via Santa Clara, but although I got a seven-mile or longer
roundtrip walk in, the goal eluded me. I've concluded that there is
no trail connecting the two points, that claims that the entire San
Francisco Bay can be circumnavigated by public trails are at least
exaggerations. Maybe someday, but not while the "Great Recession"
prevails, which probably means probably not in my lifetime.
The map shows the trail taken on April 27. A website
reports that this portion of the San Francisco Bay Trail opened only
in late 2010. "X" marks the point where I parked.

Thought for today
You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at
him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him
Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about
his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us.
He did not intend to.
