Santa Teresa County Park, San Jose, Part 1
Jonal entry 1159 | January 24 2011
the weather that California is famous for was back all last week,
it was also a week when I was not in the mood for doing a hike. So
I compromised by undertaking the easiest one I hadn't yet tried at
the "hiking park" closest to home. Easiest to drive to and
begin to walk, but it also
turned out to be the steepest climbing hike I'd
tackled. But I felt the exercise benefit of that almost from the beginning,
and another advantage of it was that the higher I climbed, the better
the pictures were, most of the city of San Jose spread out below,
the majestic mountains to the east. Though the sun was brilliant,
the high temperature for the day was a brisk 65 degrees Ferenheit,
the briskness exacerbating my shortness of breath, but it made the
other aspects of the exertion easier.
Teresa County Park occupies a large open space on the southern edge
of the city, the space shared in part by the IBM Almaden Reseach Center,
a large facility employing some 500 scientists that has led in "nonotechnology"
developmentthe introduction of ever larger and larger storage
capacity in smaller and smaller disk drives used in computers and
related devices. (See
the research center web site here.)
The beauty of the day and the surroundings inspired
shooting lots of video, resulting in a record long enough to require
dividing it into two parts. Some mysteries regarding oaks and acorns,
opened in this first part, will be enlightened by wild turkeys to
be seen in the second installment.
My mom said the only reason men are alive is for
lawn care and vehicle maintenance.
Thought for today
You thought you were being made into a decent
little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and
live in it Himself.
