Land's End Trail hike, Part 2

This second part of my Land's End hike has two deversions off the main trail, one to the back yard of the Legion of Honor (also known as the Palace of the Legion of Honor) fine art museum and the second to Mile Rock Point. Both deversions involved negotiating steep up and down slopes.

A look at the Wikipedia entry for the California Palace of the Legion of Honor contradicts my fuzzy recollection that the building was some kind of gift from France to the people of San Francisco in appreciation for war service in France. Actually, it was given by the wife of a local multi-millionaire, the founder of Spreckles Sugar, who had a French surname and had it built as "a three-quarters scale imitation of the Palais de la Legion d'Honneur also known as the Hotel de Salm in Paris by George Applegarth and H. Guillaume. It was completed in 1924." It also has a link to Pennsylvania, as the building and Lincoln Park in which it resides marks the western terminus of the Lincoln Highway, which crosses southern Pennsylvania and is also known in our state as US Highway 30.
